Directions
Beer Can Chicken is a backyard barbecue favorite that's as fun to make as it is delicious to eat.
Picture this: a whole chicken sitting majestically atop an open can of beer, perched upright on your grill like a poultry throne. As the bird cooks, the beer inside the can steams, infusing the meat with a burst of flavor and keeping it juicy. The result? A mouthwatering, tender chicken with crispy skin that's sure to be the star of your cookout!
INSTRUCTIONS
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat, around 375 degrees.
- Mix brown sugar, chili powder, paprika, dry mustard, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Place half full can of beer in center of a plate.
- Prep chicken as you normally would. Then, fit whole chicken over the can of beer with the legs on the bottom; keep upright. Sprinkle 1 tsp of seasoning mix into the top cavity of chicken. Rub remaining seasoning mix over entire surface of chicken.
- Place chicken, standing on the can, directly on the preheated grill. Close lid and cook chicken until no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear, about 1 hour 15 minutes, 165 degrees.
- Remove chicken from the grill and discard beer can. Cover chicken with a doubled sheet of aluminum foil, and allow to rest in a warm area for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Serve with your favorite barbecue sides, and enjoy!
